RotoBurner™
PTI developed the RotoBurner™
to distribute the scrap preheating energy more efficiently in the EAF. The RotoBurner™ uses a hydraulic mechanism to distribute the burner's flame through a larger area of the scrap pile inside the furnace upper shell. The burner is oscillated about 35 degrees to each side allowing the burner to preheat a big segment of scrap without melting it. Due to this fact, the nominal capacity of RotoBurner™ can significantly exceed the typical 4.5 MW (15 MMBtu/hr) capacity of EAF burners and, therefore, it can introduce more energy into the scrap during a short period of time.
