Sump Injector (EBT Injector)

PTI has designed and developed a Sump Injector that allows both chemical energy and supersonic oxygen to be delivered into the EAF at a location in the furnace not suitable for conventional sidewall burner/injectors. 

The sump burner/injector allows scrap preheating in the sump area and efficiently injects supersonic oxygen from the sump balcony into the EAF. The Sump burner/injector has an extra long cylindrical water cooled body. This longer body allows the injector to be installed high in the sump area panel while placing the injector tip as close to the steel bath as are the other supersonic injectors. The Sump Injector is installed in the water cooled gland panel located on the main sump panel. Moving the burner/injector tip far away from the sump panel allows the capacity of this unit to be increased to 4.5 MW (15.0 MMBtu/hr).
